I do enjoy yoga, even when I hate it.
Today, my friend and I went to Power Yoga at the YMCA, and I did not enjoy it; I put up with it. (I don’t think she enjoyed it much either!)
I haven’t done yoga in a while. (There go my commitment issues again…) So I’m not exactly loose. My hips are tight, my arms are weak and my right shoulder hurts so bad right now.
My hips are tight because I haven’t been stretching, and I need to do some freakin’ pushups to strengthen my arms (or I’m in trouble).
When I was in high school, I wrapped my neck and shoulder around a soccer goal post, and the injury still messes with me. When I was healing, I babied it, so it’s my own damn fault that it tightens up so bad when I don’t stretch… for a month… Yeah, so my shoulder hurts, too.
I said, “Power yoga is evil yoga,” because it is far more energetic than regular, Hatha yoga, and therefore more painful. I enjoy Vinyasa and Power yoga, but my body just will not do certain poses properly at the speed “flow yoga” takes.
Maybe my body is just super stiff from sitting on my duff for so long instead of standing in chair. :) I’m working on it.
Thank goodness Ashley R. is back in town so she can kick my butt into high gear. She’s like my Katie, Justin or Saran. Every once in a while, you really just need someone there to tell you that you can, in fact, do it.
She’s good at that. :)
