Former Super Eagles worldwide, Joseph Yobo, has hailed Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo's performance in their Champion League quarter final 1-1 draw against Ajax on Wednesday night.

But it remains advantage Juve, with the away goal handing them the edge going into next week's return leg in Italy.

While Ronaldo sat out the last two weeks after injuring his right thigh while on global duty with Portugal, he was included in Juventus' squad for the first leg of the quarter-finals today in Amsterdam.

Ajax host Excelsior at the weekend, while Juventus can wrap up their eighth consecutive Serie A title with a point away to SPAL. United already came back from a heavier first-leg deficit to reach this stage, losing 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 before winning 3-1 in the French capital last month.

Juventus almost won it when Douglas Costa hit the post in the 85th.

Massimiliano Allegri's side, though, will be well aware of what can happen should they underestimate what Ajax are capable of on the road - just ask Real Madrid. "His timing and movement is different to everyone else's, there's nothing you can do about it", Allegri told Sky Sport Italia. That scenario places this contest in a very interesting position as Ajax Amsterdam don't have the quality to attack Juventus for 90 minutes without being seriously exposed in defence.

"Ronaldo showed tonight that he's in another category".

"I think we've done pretty well".

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Ajax and Tottenham for incidents involving fans during their Champions League quarterfinal matches this week.

But he shrugged off the injury, pouncing acrobatically on Joao Cancelo's cross on the stroke of half-time, only for Brazilian winger David Neres to level just after the break with all to play for in next week's return leg in Turin.

Ronaldo won the trophy in the last three seasons with Real Madrid, but a fearless Ajax ended the Spanish side´s European hegemony in the previous round after a thrilling 4-1 victory in Spain.
