GOP Rep. Collins: Move to Impeach or Bring in Mueller

That has caused frustration among members of Mueller's team, who have told associates they are frustrated with the limited information provided about their almost two-year investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether US President Donald Trump sought to obstruct justice.

Barr has said his office is working on redacting Mueller's report so that sensitive and confidential information can be excised and a copy given to Congress and the public, perhaps sometime within the next two weeks.

Giuliani, who told Fox News' Howard Kurtz on "MediaBuzz" that he would like to see the Mueller report released in its entirety, slammed The New York Times' sources for saying there were concerns raised by some members of Mueller's team that the report was more damning of Trump than Barr has publicly indicated.

US President Donald Trump was a vocal critic of the investigation into his campaign.

Mueller's report states "while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime [in terms of obstruction of justice], it also does not exonerate him", according to Attorney General William Barr.

"In order to ask Special Counsel Mueller the right questions, the Committee must receive the Special Counsel's full report and hear from Attorney General Barr about that report on May 2". At both hearings he's likely to face questioning over Mueller's report.

The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday defended its handling of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report examining contacts between President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russian Federation as it faced increased pressure to make the document public.

"There is nothing wrong with the newspaper, there is something wrong with the prosecutor", Giuliani said.

Late last month, the attorney general informed lawmakers in writing that he would not submit Mueller's report to the White House to review for any material that might be covered by executive privilege, which allows the president and other senior officials in the executive branch to withhold some information from Congress, the courts and the public.

News reports, citing unnamed members of Mr Mueller's staff, said Mr Barr ignored the summaries that Mr Mueller's team prepared for public release, and, instead, issued his own on March 24, in which he peremptorily cleared the president of any wrongdoing.

He told Congress in a letter last week he must redact material that was presented to a grand jury, as required by law, as well as information that could reveal US intelligence agencies' sources and methods.

Collins issued a dare for the House Judiciary to begin impeachment proceedings or bring in Mueller the week of April 22 during House recess. That makes it unclear if any findings related to the Middle East will appear in the report.
