"They don't want to be forced to fly on Boeing 737 Max 8 airplanes", it said, calling on the company to allow crew members to be reassigned.

The United States has said there is "no basis" to ground Boeing 737 MAX airliners, after a second deadly crash involving the model in less than five months prompted governments worldwide to ban the plane.

Dubai, the world's busiest airport for global travel, will no longer allow the Boeing 737 MAX 8 or 737 MAX 9 to take off or land on its runways after the controversial models were banned by the United Arab Emirates government.

Earlier, the U.S. pilots already expressed their safety concerns about flying Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft as they complained that the jets' autopilot sometimes prompted them to nosedive and lose altitude. It was reportedly created to be a safety feature, to compensate for stalling that was occurring due to how the engines were fitted to the Boeing 737 Max wings. October's crash in Indonesia killed 189 people. The planes were to be delivered through 2030, Danadiputra said.

"The angle of attack sensor was faulty on the Indonesian flight, and essentially gave the impression that the nose was too high", said Garneau, who is a former astronaut.

Air Canada plans to swap in other aircraft on flights to Hawaii, Martinique and Guadeloupe, reroute some passengers through different airlines and cancel other flights, including those from Halifax and St. John's to London, all of which comes at a cost.

On Tuesday, the Dallas Morning News reported that several months before the Ethiopian Airlines crash, pilots had "repeatedly voiced safety concerns" about the Max 8 to USA authorities.

Is the Boeing 737 Max a safe aircraft? The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board sent three investigators to help.

Garneau said Canadian pilots had not made similar complaints about control issues.

The safety notice restricts the 737 Max 8 or Max 9 from operating in or flying over Canada, effective immediately, Transport Minister Marc Garneau said Wednesday in Ottawa.

Garneau told reporters he informed Canada's airlines Wednesday morning of his decision, and there was no push back from the air carriers. In a dramatic development, the European Aviation Safety Agency has split with the Federal Aviation Administration in banning the Max, leaving the USA regulator isolated in insisting that it's still safe to fly.

The latest suspensions come as thousands of Canadians are away on March break, stoking fears of stranded passengers and rebooking delays. They are working very, very hard right now. Eastern time to include additional information and quotes from Garneau, Air Canada, the pilots association and the flight attendants union.
