Odell Beckham Jr. trade signifies a complete Giants rebuild

NY is sending its star receiver to Cleveland for first- and second-round draft picks in April and safety Jabrill Peppers in the second blockbuster trade in four days.

Although General Manager, Dave Gettleman had said on multiple occasions that the Giants weren't going to trade their star receiver, reports were still circling about the Giants listening to offers, and apparently the Browns offer was too good to pass up. While division foes such as the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers continue to lose some of their top players, the Browns are busy acquiring one of the best wideouts in the league.

Last Thursday night, Cleveland social media was on fire with speculation that the Browns were getting ready to trade for Odell Beckham, Jr.

Perriman now will sign a one-year, $4 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the source said.

Odell Beckham Jr. isn't sure what to think about the trade that sent him to the Cleveland Browns.

It's possible Gettleman elects to pass on a quarterback in the 2019 National Football League draft in favor of a top-tier pass-rusher that can benefit the team in the short-term.

Picked 25th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, former MI star athlete Jabrill Peppers was never a popular player in the state of OH, ranging back to his playing days as a Wolverine. But, for now, they appear to be in the process of retooling, so they could have trouble improving greatly - unless they add another quality receiver and a quarterback in the draft.

On the back end, Peppers is a solid, young player, but he's nowhere close to as talented as Collins. But to see these two trades go down within just a few days really stings. Not bad for a team that went 7-8-1 previous year. However, fans would likely rather have Odell Beckham Jr. and the No. 6 pick instead.

Those results support a roster overhaul, and the last decade is proof that you don't need an elite No. 1 receiver to win a Super Bowl.

Beckham became the fastest wideout to eclipse 5,000 career receiving yards since the 1970 merger and eclipsed 1,000 yards in every season except for his injury-shortened 2017.
