Chiefs signing S Tyrann Mathieu to 3-year deal

Free agent safety Tyrann Mathieu is reportedly set to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The safety market exploded after strong safety Landon Collins signed with the Washington Redskins for a 6-year deal for $84 million with $45 million guaranteed.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes offered a quick reaction to the addition of the Pro Bowl player, also known as the Honey Badger.

The Texans attempted to keep their own star free agent safety on the roster, but ultimaltely lost Tyrann Mathieu to the Chiefs on what amounts to three-year, $42 million deal.

The contract will not become official until the beginning of the new league year at 3 p.m.

He owns 13 interceptions in his six-year career and has scored one defensive touchdown.
