Snow, freezing rain to hit Chicago region Monday night

Snow is expected to taper off to flurries on Wednesday.

In a Hazardous Weather Statement reissued on Sunday morning for Tuesday for southeast NY, southern CT and northeast New Jersey, saying, "A wintry mix of precipitation, which may begin as early as late Monday night, is expected Tuesday and Tuesday night".

About 3 to 6 inches of snow will accumulate for a large portion of the region further north, but south of Boston and toward the Cape and Islands should only get 1 to 3 inches.

Elsewhere, more than 148,000 customers lost power in MI following days of freezing rain.

Snowfall amounts will range from an inch to 3 inches (2.5 centimeters to 7.6 centimeters) through Sunday night.

More wintry weather is on the way beginning early Monday morning.

Snow-socked residents of the Pacific Northwest are finding themselves digging out yet again after a fresh round of storms, with an additional punch to come early this week.

The City of Cambridge has issued a snow event starting at midnight, with on-street parking restrictions remaining in effect until 11:59 p.m. on February 13. Because of this a ***WINTER STORM WARNING GOES INTO EFFECT LATE TONIGHT*** and lasts through late Tuesday night. Light-to-moderate steady snow persists throughout the evening and into the overnight time frame. Snow will continue to fall through Tuesday morning, intensifying from about 10 a.m. onward.

All of this will change over to regular rain during the day on Tuesday. Not really. The coming weekend looks to be snow-free but chilly, with highs below average.
