And now, Grande has broken her silence on the matter, claiming producers of the event refused to allow her to show her creativity, despite her offering up three different songs that she could perform.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Ehrlich said, "I saw those tweets and what she said".

The administration's official Twitter account shared some love for the jam and Ariana Grande on Friday morning, encouraging others to get as psyched about the universe as the singer is. You can ask Melissa Etheridge, who finished her cancer treatment and I put her out on stage, bald, doing Janis Joplin. "It's just a game y'all. and I'm sorry but that's not what music is to me", she added.

The album also features a spoken intro from Grande's grandmother, Marjorie Grande (known to Grande and her fans as Nonna), who opens Bloodline with a feisty proclamation that makes Grande giggle: "Because I'm trying to do the best that I can, and they can't find something to satisfy me".

A similar thing happened with Lorde at last year's ceremony, with bosses reportedly refusing to let her perform a song from her Melodrama album. "It's about collaboration. It's about feeling supported".
