Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) announced his candidacy for US president on Friday morning, signing the official papers, launching a new website, and sharing his first campaign ad online.

Mr Booker's video announcement, entitled We Will Rise, focused heavily on the emotions of America's civil rights movement, calling on the country to find a "common purpose".

Booker is a magnetic speaker who can captivate a room through uplifting rhetoric that critics sometimes deride as phony.

In the announcement video, Booker detailed how his family had difficulty being able to buy a home in they neighborhood they wanted to live in until a group of white attorneys, who were inspired by the civil rights struggle in the 1960s, chose to help black families beat housing discrimination.

But that list of candidates is expected to grow in the coming weeks, with the decisions of former Vice President Joe Biden, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke of Texas and Sanders looming largest over the shape of the field.

"We are better when we help each other", Booker said.

Gabbard's supporters say she is an opponent of U.S. wars, while critics point out that she has ties to Syria's Bashar al-Assad and India's Narendra Modi, and supports the so-called war on "terror".

India’s unemployment rate highest in 45 years
The unemployment among males stood at 4.3 percent and 8.7 percent among women in 2015/16, the government data showed. It also said that unemployment was higher in the urban areas (7.8 per cent) than in the rural areas (5.3 per cent).

For U.S.-China trade talks, hopes are high, expectations low
In a sign the sides are hopeful of making progress, the Harvard-trained Liu is due to meet Trump during this week's talks. The president seemed optimistic the two-day meeting would help de-escalate the trade dispute between the two countries.

Schultz 'Doesn't Have the Guts to Run'
Should Schultz enter the race, he would join a growing list of official candidates that includes Castro, California Sen. Rhode Island Congressman David Cicilline tweeted , "Howard, I like your coffee, but please don't do this".

The second-term senator from New Jersey had appeared at political events in Iowa and New Hampshire as speculation mounted that he would parlay the Kavanaugh fracas into a presidential run.

Conway said that Booker has moved very far to the left since leaving the Newark mayorship and taking the seat of the late Frank Lautenberg.

The position set Booker apart from at least one top-tier Democratic rival, Sen.

"Welcome, the water seems warm", Conway said, addressing Booker. Kamala Harris' similar commencement of her presidential run on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. "I imagine that the crowded Democratic field of presidential aspirants will be attacking each other's records or lack thereof, so we'll be sitting back with copious bowls of popcorn watching that". "And I think that people all across the country are exhausted of how divided Americans have become". During the Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Brett Kavanaugh last fall, Booker dramatically threatened to release confidential documents from Kavanaugh's time in the Bush White House, even though, as he claimed, "the penalty comes with potential ousting from the Senate".

They view his big-money ties as a liability and haven't forgotten his 2012 defence of Republican Mitt Romney's venture-capital background. In recent years he has co-sponsored a measure, along with Sen.

"Every candidate should run on their authentic self, tell their truth, and more importantly, or most importantly, talk about their vision for the country", he said.

"I don't know the heart of people, I'll leave that to the Lord", Booker said, although he added that white supremacists "use his words".
