According to a report from the Los Angeles Times' Tania Ganguli, the Lakers are optimistic that their superstar will return to the court in three days when they face off against the Los Angeles Clippers in a key game with playoff implications.

Kevin Durant was quite vocal earlier in the season when he stated that no top player will be keen to play alongside James as they have to change their game to suit the three-time National Basketball Association champion.

If LeBron James really wanted Luke Walton as his coach, he would strongly support him in this hard time while he was out. "From there we'll take it as far as making those scrimmages longer, or if he says, 'Hey I feel great, I'll see if I can play, ' then we'll make those adjustments". The head coach also echoed James' agents' comments and suggested that his forward is likely to return once he feels healthy enough.

James has led the Lakers in scoring this season, averaging 27.3 points in 34 games along with a team-high average of 8.3 rebounds per game.

The Lakers are now 40-1 to win the NBA Title this season with the best free bets having Los Angeles sitting at 20-1 to win the Western Conference. Their status for the Sixers game will be determined Tuesday.

If the Lakers don't end up with Davis - maybe there's another team willing to take the risk the Thunder did when they dealt for Paul George in 2017 - it's not the biggest blow in the world. You're asking people to play more minutes than usually they play.

Time will tell if Windhorst is right about James and his coming back to the team, or if this issue will continue through the All-Star break into the second half of the year as the Lakers chances' of winning a title continue to dwindle. Let's look at all the players, shall we?
