Fourth-seed Daniil Medvedev of Russian Federation on Friday had to rally from a one set deficit to defeat big-serving Milos Raonic of Canada 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 6-4 and qualify for the semifinal of the Brisbane International.

South Korean Chung, who reached the Australian Open semi-finals a year ago, fell at the first hurdle for the second tournament in succession, going down 7-5 6-3 to a player ranked 285 places below him.

The former world number one shook off a frustrating first set loss, making a dramatic comeback in the second, and finally getting the better of a defiant Tsurenko who succumbed to an ankle injury in the final set which slowed her play.

The third set was all Pliskova as she broke Tsurenko twice to wrap up the final in two hours, 12 minutes. I felt like I was too fast on the court today ...

Despite returning to form in Brisbane, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga could not find his way past Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals.

"Despite the many chances that he had, I managed to hold my serves so I'm happy about it and the win... to see that what I have been working on in the off-season works in Brisbane is already a good sign".

Daniil Medvedev may skip his Sydney International defence after a deep run in Brisbane ended with rivals predicting his rise into the world's top 10.

White Sox make official offer to free agent Manny Machado
Many are speculating that the Yankees have a great shot at locking up the 26-year-old superstar, but nothing is set in stone yet. Bruce Levine of 670 The Score quickly responded by saying the Sox were unlikely to offer more than seven years to either player.

"I think today was probably one of the most flawless matches I've ever played in my career", said Vekic.

"I'm really happy that finally I've won this title, it's been like seven or eight times at this tournament".

"So I had to start at some ATP Challenger Tour events", said Nishikori.

The unseeded Tsurenko looked headed for the biggest win of her career when serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set, only for Pliskova to come storming back to win 4-6,7-5, 6-2 and claim her second Brisbane title.

"I think he was missing a little bit more than last couple matches".

"If I'm being really frank, I just feel like I had like the worst attitude today", the 21-year-old Osaka said.
