Samsung first showcased this MicroLED TV technology at CES 2018, showcasing how the screens were composed of millions of individual LEDs. "AirPlay 2 support will be available on Samsung Smart TVs in 190 countries worldwide", the company announced on Sunday at the CES 2019 here. Users will be able to access and control multiple TVs around their home, provided all of them support AirPlay 2.

In a surprise announcement, rivals Samsung and Apple chose to team up and bring the iTunes movies and TV Shows app to Samsung's Smart TV range in 100 countries.

In addition, Apple says that you will be able to use Siri on your iPhone to start playback of specific movies or TV show on you TV such as ”Hey Siri, play Game of Thrones on my living room TV”.

Samsung has announced that they will add an app to their smart televisions that will allow users to watch content from Apple's iTunes service. Since it launched, SmartCast has developed into a functional connected TV platform in its own right, with both Google Cast as a backbone and a modest selection of apps and streaming services on top of it.

Samsung and Apple have a weird history. However, what's most interesting here is the fact that Vizio's SmartCast TVs will add support for HomeKit.

Ever since Steve Jobs began talking about his plans for the Apple TV, Apple fans have dreamed of getting the full breadth of iTunes and other Apple content on their TV. The company blamed the revenue reduction on lower-than-expected hardware sales but pointed to service revenue records.

"Services generated over $10.8bn in revenues during the quarter, growing to a new quarterly record in every geographic segment, and we are on track to achieve our goal of doubling the size of this business from 2016 to 2020".

Given that Apple has opened the gates for everyone to bring AirPlay 2 to their TVs, it's only a matter of time your favorite lineup will grace the feature.

In order to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime's original content offerings, which have been around for a number of years, Apple will need as much reach as possible.
