No Ban, No Protests, Says Madhya Pradesh Congress On Manmohan Singh Film

The party reacted after the film makers screened the trailer on Thursday.

Anupam Kher has been in the news for quite a while now for his portrayal of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in the upcoming film The Accidental Prime Minister.

The trailer also displays polished performances by German actress Suzanne Bernert, Aahana Kumra and Arjun Mathur, who play Sonia, Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi respectively.

"About one-and-a-half years back, my friend Ashok Pandit told me that there is a film being made on Dr Manmohan Singh, and of course everybody heard about the book and the controversy behind the book". Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh impresses with his body language.

Kher's comment comes a day after Maharashtra Youth Congress raised objections to the film and asserted that if the film is released without prior screening for their office bearers, they will resort to "other options" to stop the screening of the film.

Reacting to the protests erupting over the film, Anupam Kher said, "More they protest, more publicity they will give to the film".

While reporter presented his mic to ask a question, as Dr. Singh came out of the vehicle, he immediately got ready to answer the questions but as soon as the reporter had put forward his comment, "What do you think about the film made about you, ?"

The film explores the dynamics between Manmohan Singh and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi along with drabbling on the former Prime Minister's alleged conflicts with his party counterparts.

The Indian National Congress's Maharashtra State Youth Wing has already demanded a special screening ahead of the release of the film. It is based on the book of the same name written by Singh's advisor Sanjaya Baru.

The film is directed by Vijay R. Gutte, son of Ratnakar Gutte, an MLA from the BJP-allied Rashtriya Samaj Paksha.
