Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer is retiring, the school said on Tuesday.

"In 2014, I had that surgery and it recurred a year ago".

Meyer missed the Buckeyes first three games against Oregon State, Rutgers and TCU as offensive coordinator Ryan Day took over the day-to-day coaching duties.

The news comes as no surprise, as retirement was one of the options available to Meyer as he battled the cyst, which caused him to drop to a knee on the sideline during the IN game. He has three national championships on his resume - one at Ohio State in 2014 and two at Florida in 2006 and 2008 - to go along with two undefeated seasons (2004 at Utah, 2012 at Ohio State). He's also coming off back-to-back Big Ten titles and has won seven straight games against rival MI - not to mention claiming a national championship in 2014. Now ranked No. 6, the Buckeyes will face Washington in the Rose Bowl.

The university will announce his retirement at a 2 p.m. ET news conference.

Meyer went 82-9 in his seven seasons as Ohio State coach, including a 54-4 Big Ten record. Meyer initially said he didn't know about the abuse when he fired Smith, but it turns out he might have known about it and done nothing.

A Justice Department watchdog released a report earlier this year detailing Strzok's bias against Trump and in favor of Clinton. In a pair of tweets Thursday, Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., condemned Comey for doing what other witnesses have already done.

In College Football Playoff Top 25
Ohio State's consolation prize for missing out on the College Football Playoff is a classic matchup in the Granddaddy of Them All. Clemson (the ACC champion) and Notre Dame (undefeated) should occupy the top three spots, likely in that order.

The two leaders made a vague commitment on "denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula during the summit, but glossed over how to make it happen.

"It's a complicated question, and I'll try to answer it the best I can", Meyer said. He spent one year as a college football analyst for ESPN before taking the Ohio State job citing improved health and life decisions. Three months after completing its investigation, Ohio State has not yet shared the bulk of the public records generated during its investigation. The Smiths divorced in 2016.

"I'm fully aware I'm ultimately responsible for this situation", Meyer said in August. It suspended both men over their lack of action.

He then started his coaching career at New Hampshire in 2002 as the tight ends coach and eventually landed at Florida, where he was a grad assistant for Meyer.

As The Tampa Bay Times reported earlier this year, "Smith was arrested in 2009 for allegedly jamming his pregnant wife into a wall".

The reasons Urban Meyer is stepping down and walking away from his $7.6 million salary are complicated. He had been hospitalized after a high-profile loss to Alabama.

Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter, who played for Ohio State when Meyer was an assistant with the program, said that Meyer wants to continue coaching, but his body won't allow it.
