India Marks 10th Anniversary of Mumbai Terror Attacks

Timed for the tenth anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai attack on Monday, the USA government has announced a $5 million-bounty covering all the terrorists connected with it.

At least a 174 people were killed and more than 300 injured in the attacks.

Before the Mumbai attack, the U.S. had designated the LeT as a terrorist organisation in 2001 and imposed sanctions on it and the UN Security Council followed suit in 2005.

On November 26, 2008, Islamist militants from Pakistan went on a rampage across India's financial capital that lasted three days, horrifying the world as it played out on TV news channels.

The coordinated attacks on the city of almost 20 million people hit luxury hotels, the main railway station, a restaurant popular with tourists and a Chabad center.

The United Nations 1267 has designated LeT to the Consolidated UN Security Council Sanctions List.

Residents were also to pay respects at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station where Mohammed Kasab, the only gunman caught alive, and another attacker killed nearly 60 people and wounded at least 100 others.

The first phase of the "Nariman Light House Memorial" includes a plaque with the names of all the 166 victims of the 26/11 terror strikes, a gently flowing fountain in an artificial garden signifying the flow of life, purification and regeneration, and six planks signifying the prime targeted locations.

The current rabbi is to unveil a new memorial at the center to all those who died in the 26/11 attacks.
