JR Smith doesn't believe Cavaliers' talk of making playoffs

In reaction to Smith's remarks, the Cavs announced Tuesday afternoon that he will no longer be with the team: "The Cleveland Cavaliers announced today that JR Smith will no longer be with team as the organization works with JR and his representation regarding his future".

The move comes hours after the release of an interview with Smith by The Athletic that featured him saying the Cavs, 2-13 overall and 0-8 on the road, were trying to lose.

Veteran shooting guard J.R. Smith thinks that the Cleveland Cavaliers entered the 2018-19 season with the intention to tank, despite claims from the coaching staff and front office that they were going to stay competitive.

James, who in July left the Cavaliers for the second time, and his new team, the Los Angeles Lakers, will make their only visit to The Q this season tonight at 8.

Smith is in his 15th season and making $14.7 million but has been reluctant to accept a buyout.
