Some years ago, Sachin Tendulkar, after scoring his 100th worldwide century, said he would love to see an Indian - someone like Kohli or Rohit Sharma - break his records.

The 29 year old brought up his 37th ODI hundred in style in the 44th over of the Indian innings with a back foot punch to the cover boundary. The Bangladeshi veteran Mushfiqur Rahim wasn't the one to miss out on the occasion either, taking to Twitter to write, "Congratulations to one and only sir virat kohli for reaching 10k runs in the blink of an eye". It was the Indian skipper's second consecutive century against the Windies after his 140 run knock in the first ODI at Guwahati.

And with his latest century, Kohli achieved yet another milestone.

Kohli, who came into the crease with the fall of Rohit Sharma's wicket early on in the Indian innings, kept batting fluently despite losing partners at the other end. India soon found itself in further trouble when Ashley Nurse accounted for Shikhar Dhawan to leave the hosts reeling at 40 for 2. The partnership between Kohli and Ambati Rayudu steered the team out of troubled waters. He broke Sachin Tendulkar's record to become the fastest man to achieve this record.

With the feat, Kohli also became the fifth Indian batsman and 13th overall to join the club.

Kohli went past the 81 he needed against West Indies to go to 10,000 ODI runs in 205 innings, beating Tendulkar who reached the mark in 259 innings.
