Investigators have received more than 1,200 tips about Jayme Closs.

Cameras captured surveillance video of two vehicles that were in the area around the time of the shooting at the Closs home in Barron, Wis. last week.

A week after a 13-year-old girl vanished, a local sheriff is seeking a cadre of volunteers.

Investigators have been searching for 13-year-old Jayme Closs since her parents were found dead in their Wisconsin home.

Officials say one vehicle is believed to be either a 2004-2010 Black Acura MDX or a 2006-2010 Black Ford Edge.

Also Monday, the sheriff called for 2,000 volunteers to help in a ground search set to start Tuesday morning. Deputies found the home's door kicked in and her parents shot to death.

"Also for the community, this is a good time now that we have some vehicles of interest to look for changes of behavior or routine of people". Fitzgerald didn't have information on the cars' license plates.

James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46, died of gunshot wounds at their home October 15 at 1268 Highway 8, west of Barron, and Fitzgerald has ruled it a homicide.

After being instructed to proceed slowly, to yell "Stop!" if they see anything and to wait for the authorities to come check it out, volunteers fanned out in lines to search marshes, wooded areas and fields.

An intensive search in her home state has failed to locate her despite involving some 100 people including volunteers and more than 800 phoned-in tips.

"We want to bring Jayme home and put that smile back in her family's hands", said Fitzgerald, who added that investigators don't know whether the attack was random or targeted.

Items recovered by the volunteers are being assessed, but so far none appear to be connected to the case, the Barron County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. The sheriff said that "every tip" the department receives is important. He declined to comment on why authorities have expanded the ground search.

"I guess I'm not doing anything different than I would hope someone would do if it was one of my loved ones in this situation right now", said Robinson, 48. Deputies responding to a 911 call early that morning discovered that someone had broken into the family's home near Barron, about 80 miles (128 kilometers) northeast of Minneapolis, and gunned down the couple.

In an interview with DailyMail.com, neighbors of the Closs family said they heard two gunshots about 20 minutes before the 911 call was made.
