O'Rourke Says He Still Supports Trump Impeachment

O'Rourke said the disparaging remarks may have been made "in the heat of the moment". On Thursday, he reiterated his position that if elected to the Senate and given the opportunity, he would vote to impeach President Donald Trump. Ted Cruz, had previously suggested that he'd support impeaching the president over alleged collusion with Russian Federation and obstruction of justice. When asked to say something nice about his opponent, O'Rourke focused on Cruz's love for his family, and his genuine ambition to serve and do good by his country.

And in what was supposed to be safe territory for Republicans this season, President Trump is also set to hold a rally for Cruz in Houston next Monday.

O'Rourke now represents the state's 16th Congressional District in Congress and appeared at a CNN town hall moderated by Dana Bash in McAllen, Texas, as he continues his campaign to unseat Sen.

Among registered voters, though, Cruz's lead is just 5 percentage points in the CNN poll, and O'Rourke insists that most polls don't capture the likelihood of ballots cast by many younger Texans and other newly registered voters his campaign has inspired.
