New documents reveal that Special Counsel Robert Mueller may be trying to use his investigation of Manafort to probe deeper into the Trump campaign.

But U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis rejected the timetable so he could move forward with sentencing Manafort, who appeared in court in a wheelchair and was said to be suffering significant health issues.

A judge on Friday set February 8 for sentencing of Manafort, who was convicted of tax and bank fraud charges.

Under the deal, the special counsel did not have to decide whether to prosecute Manafort on the remaining 10 Virginia charges until after he was done cooperating. "I'm not willing to go on endlessly" before sentencing Manafort, he added.

Prosecutors also indicated this week they may be willing to drop 10 charges Manafort still faces after a jury couldn't reach a unanimous agreement on them at his trial.

Special counsel prosecutors and attorneys for Paul Manafort are releasing several years of the former Trump campaign chairman's tax returns that were at the center of his criminal trial.

Before the trial, the government had estimated that Manafort would be sentenced to eight to 10 years in prison, based exclusively on the tax fraud charges in Virginia.

Translation-there's time for media spin to justify Mueller probe but no time to answer questions from Congress about his statement on recording the President", Rep. The trial showed how Manafort supported a lavish lifestyle with untaxed income he earned as a political consultant in Ukraine, and how he lied to banks in seeking loans after his Ukrainian work dried up.
