Klopp labelled UEFA's new tournament as "the most senseless competition in world football" recently, claiming that an accumulation of competitive encounters will only result in a higher risk of injury.

The other good news is that the global break was especially menacing to Liverpool, as Virgil Van Dijk, Naby Keita, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane were all injured and only Salah and Van Dijk trained on Thursday.

'We can not ignore the travelling when you fly overnight and change time zones two or three times in eight or nine days. Klopp said. "I like big competitions, but at some point everyone has to step back".

"The Nations League itself is a good idea?"

"They say, "Now we have proper games, real opponents and it's better than having friendlies", stuff like that", Klopp told a news conference. "No one is interested".

"The only thing we are pretty sure is that Naby [Keita] will not be available with all the rest, we have to see how it develops, that's it pretty much".

After Salah suffered a muscle injury playing for Egypt (he also scored straight from a corner because, why not?) and VVD left the Netherlands squad after their win over Germany at the weekend due to his ongoing rib injury, all of a sudden the injuries are mounting up for Jurgen Klopp.
