Sen. Hirono: Susan Collins 'Insulting' Ford By Saying Someone Else Assaulted Her

States "are very busy passing all kinds of laws that would limit a woman's right to choose", Hirono said, pointing out that it is the constitutionality of those laws that could come before the Supreme Court.

Interest in the Maine Republican senator's 2020 re-election has exploded in the days since she cast the deciding vote to confirm President Donald Trump's Supreme Court pick - a vote that helped transform the balance of power on the nation's high court for a generation and suddenly complicates Collins' path to a fifth term.

Collins told Bash that while she found Ford's testimony "heart-wrenching", the fact that both Ford and Kavanaugh said they were "100 percent certain" of their statements meant that she had to look to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for additional corroborating evidence.

"As far as Susan Rice is concerned, her family has a home in ME, but she doesn't live in the state of Maine".

"I believe (Dr. Blasey Ford) was sexually assaulted and that that trauma has stayed with her throughout her life", Collins told WXIA. "Nevertheless, the four witnesses she named could not corroborate any of the events of that evening gathering where she says the assault occurred; none of the individuals Professor Ford says were at the party has any recollection at all of that night". She is the most moderate Republican in the Senate, and often votes against the GOP.

Despite the fact that Mainers protested at and called her offices for several months and signed letters demanding that she vote against Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination, Sen. I reached out to Crowdpac for more insight and will update if I hear back.

Collins of ME said Ford's testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee was "heart-wrenching" but added that Kavanaugh also passionately denied her accusations.

Tagovailoa stars as No. 1 Alabama routs Arkansas
Alabama is also with freshman defensive back Jalyn Armour-Davis, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last month. By halftime, he had an insane stat line: 10-of-11 passing for 334 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Mahrez miss leaves City, Liverpool and Chelsea all level at top
Substitute Leroy Sane was taken out by Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk in the box, but Mahrez blazed his spot-kick way over the bar. Don't lose the ball in risky positions because when you lose the ball there, they counter attack with Firmino, Mane and Salah.

Leno set for Arsenal starts as Emery issues Cech injury update
Emery insisted this week that Aaron Ramsey wouldn't be distracted by reports that his negotiations with Arsenal have broken down. However, it is hard to overlook the wins they mustered through that stretch which also points at improvement.

Speaking in New York during The New Yorker Festival, Rice said Collins "put party and politics over her own stated principles" of supporting equal rights and legalized abortion.

'I asked him, "Is it sufficient? if five current, sitting justices believe that Roe should be overturned?"'

"I have great respect for Susan Collins, and I always have", he added.

"I found Dr. Ford's testimony to be heart-wrenching, painful, compelling, and I believe that she believes what she testified to", Collins said.

The emergence of a crowded field in a Senate contest two years away underscores the extraordinary political moment triggered by the debate over Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. "That's what I did in this case", she said. She said she'd give a possible Senate bid "due consideration after the midterms". She called it "the most hard in the 22 years that I've been honored to represent the state of Maine in the Senate". "Everybody knows that", Ms. Collins said.

"They are asking me to perform an official act and if I do not do what they want, $2 million plus is going to go to my opponent".

"Over the years, the people of Maine have trusted me to exercise my best judgment". And because it was created to directly influence her vote, the legality may be dicey.
