Manager Mourinho has seen the Red Devils lose three games in seven so far in the Premier League, their worst start for almost 30 years.

After drawing with Wolves and being knocked out of the League Cup to second-tier Derby County, United were beaten 3-1 by West Ham United at the weekend.

In another eventful press conference, Mourinho fielded questions about his future, his players and his mooted successor Zinedine Zidane.

"There was no "I don't like what we're doing".

'I prefer the doctor to speak, but they are not in [the right] conditions'.

The defeat makes it their worst start to a topflight season after seven games since 1989 and Gary Neville has traced United's woes since David Moyes was sacked in 2014.

Who should replace Mourinho as United manager?

"It doesn't matter how they set up, our game was to try to win, we have to do our job and we did it excellently, and that is why we deserved to win", he said. I see some people upset and some who don't look like they lost a game.

Sanchez, 29, was axed from Manchester United's 18-man squad ahead of their Saturday lunchtime 3-1 defeat at West Ham.

The France worldwide has had the vice-captaincy taken off him and many observers are claiming Mourinho may be suffering from the "third-season syndrome" that has dogged his career. Asked if some of his players do not care, Mourinho said: "I think that some care more than others". When asked whether he wanted to stop and talk about the performance the midfielder smiled and said: "You want me dead?"

He added: "What I can do to improve things I do and I will improve the things that depend on me and my work".
