Trump says he would have pushed Kavanaugh through

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, right, shakes hands with Sen.

"Thirty-six years ago, nobody ever knew about it or heard about it, and now a new charge comes up and she said it might not be him, and there were gaps and she said she was totally inebriated, and she was all messed up", Trump said. But I have never done that to her or to anyone.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh acknowledged drinking "too many" beers on occasion during high school and doing things "that make me cringe now" in prepared testimony to be delivered Thursday, but he forcefully denied allegations of sexual assault. Her attorney, Michael Avenatti, provided the declaration to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

All eyes will be on the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday as Kavanaugh testifies along with his earliest public accuser, Christine Blasey Ford. If approved by the panel, Kavanaugh would go on to face a vote in the full Senate. If he will not, at the very least, the hearing and vote should be postponed while the FBI investigates all of these allegations.

Susan Collins of ME, a pivotal moderate who's not announced her position, said she was taking Swetnick's claims seriously.

Kavanaugh has vehemently denied the allegation.

"This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone".

In recent days, the president has grown increasingly frustrated with the handling of the claims against Kavanaugh, said a person familiar with his views who was not authorized to discuss private conversations publicly.

Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, tweeted that about 20 committee investigators are "tracking down all allegations/leads & talking to all witnesses & gathering all evidence".

At different points in the rambling, almost 90-minute event, Trump said that the allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh were "all false" and that he "could be persuaded" otherwise.

UEFA to judge Cristiano Ronaldo red-card case next week

Swetnick, 55, who lives in Washington, D.C., said she graduated from Gaithersburg High School in Montgomery County, Maryland. Ford says she eventually escaped. And I suspect that the longer that this hangs out there, the more, the more accusations will occur. And a third, Julie Swetnick, said Wednesday that she observed Kavanaugh drink to excess and "engage in abusive behavior" toward girls in high school.

Swetnick, the third accuser, made other accusations in her statement.

The president said it "wouldn't have mattered" to Democrats "if the Federal Bureau of Investigation came back with the cleanest score" if they had investigated the veracity of the claims of sexual assault and more against Kavanaugh.

Republicans said they were determined to push the nomination through the narrowly-divided Senate as soon as possible, rejecting Democratic calls to freeze the process to let the FBI investigate all of the allegations.

Ramirez told The New Yorker that she hesitated coming forward because she was drunk when the alleged incident took place and "her memories contained gaps".

"Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it just did", he said in a written statement.

On the other side, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY said Kavanaugh should withdraw his nomination.

Those documents could have weight because people who Ford has said were at the party she's described have not corroborated her account. "Do you mind telling me so I can read about him?"

More: Who is Christine Blasey Ford, the professor accusing Brett Kavanaugh of assault?

Given that the Judiciary Committee's GOP members are all male, Mr McConnell said the panel was hiring a "female assistant" to handle the questioning for Republicans "in a respectful and professional way".
