UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings over Cristiano Ronaldo's red card against Valencia in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

UEFA says its disciplinary panel will judge the case of Ronaldo's first Champions League red card on September 27.

Ronaldo is all set to miss out on minimum one match as a result of the red card, with the game in question being an encounter against BSC Young Boys. Messi scored two more goals within a span of 10 minutes to get his 48th career hat-trick. Simeone told a news conference ahead of Saturday's La Liga trip to Getafe via FourFourTwo "With VAR, seeing the way in which Ronaldo was sent off, we have to pay attention to what is done".

Ronaldo rewrote the history books during his nine-year stay in the Spanish capital, ending his time at the Bernabeu as Madrid's leading all-time scorer with 450 goals in just 438 games.

Matuidi admits Juve's players were baffled by the decision.

VAR was used largely successfully at this summer's World Cup but is not yet in use in the Champions League.

Chaos erupted in the 29th minute, as Ronaldo was sent off for the first time in 154 Champions League matches in controversial fashion.
