You can find out who all the coaches and captains voted for here. But, given the circumstances, they have a legitimate right to question his exclusion.

While scooping one gong, Salah missed out on the Best Player award, which went to Real Madrid's Luka Modric, while the Egyptian was not included in the FIFPro World XI. Yet that was not the case.

Federation Internationale de Football Association will crown the best players, coaches and goal from the previous year when it hosts The Best awards ceremony and gala in London on Monday, September 24.

It will be a few years before anyone understands this.

Here are six Salah strikes that could have been shortlisted ahead of his goal that landed him the award.

I have no problem with Pogba - Jose Mourinho
To strip him of the responsibility seems petty, and won't help Pogba play any better. The 25-year-old was dispossessed in the move that led to Joao Moutinho's equaliser.

Michelle Guthrie Fired From Australian Broadcasting Corporation
Senior journalist Sally Neighbour, executive producer of 4 Corners, tweeted: "Excellent decision". Appointed to the role in May 2016, Guthrie was the ABC's first female managing director.

Brett Kavanaugh accuser to give evidence before Senate
It was not immediately clear whether the Republican-run Senate Judiciary Committee would agree to more talks with Ford's team. After Grassley set a hearing for Monday, Democrats demanded a delay to allow time for the FBI to investigate Ford's claim.

Salah ultimately came third with Cristiano Ronaldo coming second and Luka Modric becoming the first player other than Ronaldo or Lionel Messi in a decade to win the award.

The Egypt worldwide somehow landed the prize for the best goal of last season, despite Gareth Bale scoring one of the greatest Champions League goals of all time in the final.

Meanwhile, others would point to Cristiano Ronaldo, who was absent from the ceremony, and his stunning overhead kick for Real Madrid against Juventus in Europe's elite competition as the one and only victor.

France's World Cup-winning boss Didier Deschamps was named men's coach of the year.

Fifa's "The Best" awards ceremony took place on Monday night and, as usual, there was plenty of room for debate when all was said and done.
