When Hill famously testified that Thomas-now a justice on the high court-sexually harassed her, "the Senate Judiciary Committee had an opportunity to demonstrate its appreciation for both the seriousness of sexual harassment claims and the need for public confidence in the character of a nominee to the Supreme Court", she wrote.

He asked why Feinstein (D-Calif.) didn't bring up the accusations when Senate Democrats and Kavanaugh met privately in August. Republicans hope to have Kavanaugh confirmed by October 1, the start of the next Supreme Court term. "I have never done anything like what the accuser describes - to her or to anyone", Kavanaugh said in a statement issued by the White House. "And really it's up to the Senate". And I just want to say to the men in this country: Just shut up and step up.

She went public with an interview in the Washington Post Sunday, saying that at a party in Maryland in the 1980s, Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed, groped her, and tried to remove her clothes while putting his hand over her mouth to stop her screams. He said in a statement Monday that he wanted to "refute this false allegation, from 36 years ago, and defend my integrity".

"If she shows up, that would be wonderful".

Ford's lawyers say she has been subject to death threats as a result of her allegations against Kavanaugh.

Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, told MSNBC on Tuesday that the White House should request an FBI investigation of the sexual-assault accusation and any refusal to do so by Republicans amounts to rushing to confirm him.

Gov. Brown says California will launch satellite
The Chicago Sun-Times columnist gave Brown the Moonbeam moniker in 1976. "Everywhere you look there's a challenge", Brown said. Perhaps the most significant sign of Brown's global clout was the size of the Chinese delegation at the summit.

Accuser of USA high-court nominee Kavanaugh goes public
She said she was able to escape when Kavanaugh's friend, Mark Judge , jumped on top of them, sending all three tumbling. Dianne Feinstein became public over the past week, she chose to go ahead and speak out herself, Sunday's report said.

With a $55 million budget, the current consensus is that the film will be more of a character study than a blockbuster action flick.

The tweets caught fire across social media as Republicans press ahead for Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination. "From what I've heard you have 6 months to live, you disgusting slime", one message said.

Patrick J. Smyth sent a letter to Republican Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley and top Democrat Dianne Feinstein in which he denied seeing any "improper conduct" by Kavanaugh, a classmate at Georgetown Preparatory School, according to CNN, which obtained a copy of the letter.

Mr Trump added that it would be "unfortunate" if Christine Blasey Ford did not turn up at a special Senate hearing into the claims on Monday, after her lawyer called for more time for the FBI to investigate.

At the U.S. Capitol, Grassley said he was trying to get Ford to testify by Monday, publicly or privately.

"This is a very tough thing for him and his family and we want to get it over with but at the same time we want to give tremendous amounts of time". Democrats refused to participate, saying the seriousness of the charges merited a full FBI investigation. He told reporters that he feels "so badly for" Kavanaugh and that "this is not a man that deserves this". That was Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.), a member of the committee that would hear Kavanaugh and Ford. Republicans have charged Democrats with attempting to stymie the confirmation until after the November midterm elections, and with weaponizing Ford's allegation to achieve that political end.
