Furyk will make his fourth captain's choice selection at the conclusion of the BMW Championship, which is being held this week at Arnonimink Golf Club in Newtown Square.

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, golf's most prominent players for more than two decades, never realized the Ryder Cup would mean so much.

For Mickelson, this will be his record 12th Ryder Cup team, eclipsing the record of 11 he shared with Nick Faldo.

US captain Jim Furyk added them to his team Monday evening as wild-card selections, along with Bryson DeChambeau.

The victory comes at an important time for the‎ 24-year-old as Jim Furyk will make three of his four captain's picks for the Ryder Cup team Tuesday.

DeChambeau, who rose to the top of the FedEx Cup standings with a win last week in New Jersey, further distanced himself from the pack with another success - his third of the year.

Japan's Hideki Matsuyama tied for fourth place after climbing the Dell Technologies leaderboard in Monday's final round, while American Bryson DeChambeau claimed his second straight FedEx Cup win.

The biennial competition will take place at the Le Golf National near Paris from 28-30 September.

Woods will no longer be a vice captain, though Furyk said he would continue to lean on his advice.

Thomas Bjorn has selected Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia and Paul Casey as wild cards for his European Ryder Cup team, it was announced Wednesday. He is a former U.S. Amateur champion and has already developed a bond with Woods, looking to speculation about a possible pairing in France.

Furyk also announced that David Duval, Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar would join Davis Love III and Steve Stricker as USA vice-captains in Paris.
