Taylor Swift performs touching tribute to Aretha Franklin in icon's hometown

Taylor Swift offered Aretha Franklin some R-E-S-P-E-C-T on Tuesday night in Detroit.

The funeral will take place Friday at 10 a.m. ET at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. There, they found Franklin in a polished bronze casket and a sheer baby blue dress with matching shoes, a change from the bright red outfit seen Tuesday across the world.

The body of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin on Tuesday arrived at the Detroit's Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History for viewing and final goodbyes.

A marathon funeral with an all-star list of speakers and performers was scheduled for Friday. I was able to visit with her a few times there at the apartment and to hold her hand and to YouTube my dad singing Joy Bells.

Hundreds of members of Delta Sigma Theta paid tribute to their soror, Aretha Franklin at a packed ceremony that capped a day of mourning in Detroit.

"I think this is really doing her really good", said nurse Tremaine Townsend, 38, among the thousands who filed past Franklin's casket on Wednesday, thrilled by the four-day celebration.

She said the Queen of Soul was "a singer of the universe".

"She was intertwined in all of our lives", she said, adding that her love for the singer "started with 'Respect.'" "We're just feeling good about seeing the Queen".
