Simon Mignolet has responded to the departure of Loris Karius after the keeper made the move to Süper Lig club Beşiktas on loan.

"Karius' transfer changed nothing for me", He told Het Laatste Nieuws.

Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws of his native land, the goalkeeper said: "I find it freakish that Karius is [on loan], while I also had options to be [loaned]".

The decision to allow Karius to leave has upset Mignolet, though, who has little desire to act merely as backup to Alisson this season. 'But for some reason that was not possible. 'I have always been clear: I want to play.

"It's good for him, I really think Loris is a fantastic goalkeeper, at a very good goalkeeper age".

The 19-year-old goalkeeper is now regarded by Klopp as Liverpool's third choice shot-stopper behind Alisson Becker and Simon Mignolet. Playing time is the most important thing.

"Besiktas have a good team who have a good chance to win the league and they now have a really good goalkeeper and I am really happy for him".

Meanwhile, Premier League club Liverpool announced Saturday that Karius joined Beşiktaş on a two-year loan deal. "We will see what happens this week".

"The interest isn't new", he said earlier this month.

Karius wept on the pitch after his errors in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat against Real and the German still looked traumatised as he struggled again during pre-season.
