People of Iraq have reacted to their prime minister's anti-Iran remarks during which he had claimed that Iraq would follow up the USA in sanctioning Iran.

The foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt, joined with his French and German counterparts last week to voice their "deep regret" at Washington's withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and vow to protect European companies from U.S. reprisals if they continue to trade with Iran.

Ambassador Robert Wood Johnson wrote in the Sunday Telegraph that "we are asking global Britain to use its considerable diplomatic power and influence and join us as we lead a concerted global effort towards a genuinely comprehensive agreement".

The decision came after U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew from a landmark 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.

Iran announced on Saturday that it will bring back home a second batch of 20%-enriched uranium which has been kept in Russian Federation under the 2015 nuclear deal to be used in Tehran Research Reactor.

London has made clear it is committed to the JCPOA, but is open to talking to the USA about ways to address shared concerns about Iran's regional activities. He added, "The President has been explicit: any businesses that put their commercial interests in Iran ahead of the global good will risk serious consequences for their trade with the U.S".

A week ago Britain signed on to a joint statement with other EU countries that pledged to press on with a strategy to lessen the impact of the US sanctions on European businesses.

Calling the renewed sanctions "the most biting ever imposed", Trump also threatened via Twitter that "anyone doing business with Iran will NOT be doing business with the United States".

On Monday, Trump ordered all nuclear-related sanctions that were removed under the deal to be reinstated immediately.

We don't support the sanctions; they are a strategic error, but we will comply with them says Prime Minister Abadi.

The US position was further undermined by an unnamed United Kingdom minister who accused Trump of simply throwing "red meat" to his support base, calling the sanctions strategy counter-productive, according to the Telegraph.

"It is clear that the danger from Iran did not diminish in the wake of the deal", he said.
