On July 18, Tibbetts was last seen jogging near her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa and was staying at her boyfriend's house to watch his dogs while he was out of town, according to Fox News.

Tibbetts, a 20-year-old University of Iowa student, hasn't been seen since July 18.

But he says investigators will continue to withhold basic details about the case because they believe it gives them the best chance to solve it.

The latest came Thursday, when police confirmed that a possible sighting of Ms Tibbetts at a Missouri truck stop turned out not to be her.

And the family's plea now comes with a large reward: $172,000 for information leading to Tibbetts' safe return, the family announced Thursday.

Investigators say they have concluded that a woman spotted in northwest Missouri was not a missing Iowa college student.

Investigators have said previously that they were confident on Tibbetts' digital footprint, but they did not release any information as to where that was.

When asked if authorities suspect that Tibbetts was abducted, Winker said, "We don't know where Mollie is at right now".

"It is our greatest hope that if someone has her that they would just release her and claim that money that we have raised for her freedom". He said investigators told him she was doing homework on her computer later that evening.

"Sometimes I just feel her sitting on my shoulder", she said.

Mollie Tibbetts' parents believe she is alive. "Mollie was an incredibly strong young woman, and I don't know that I have the strength in me but Mollie is lending me her strength every day, every night". Her disappearance has gained national attention.

Anyone with information in the 20-year-old's disappearance is urged to call Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa at 800-452-1111 or 515-223-1400.

Police in Brooklyn, Iowa, joined by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in their efforts to find Tibbetts, have been scouring the area as well as studying data from Mollie's fitbit.

"It certainly helps in that we are able to help establish a timeline and that's certainly critical for any investigation like this", Rahn told ABC News in an interview last week.
