Jose Mourinho refused to say whether he thinks his Manchester United squad are strong enough to compete for the Premier League title next season. Despite this, Pogba failed to find the top-draw form he's capable of last season for Manchester United.

Central defence is an area Jose Mourinho desperately needs to strengthen and Maguire has established himself as a solid Premier League performer in the last couple of seasons.

"I think the World Cup is the flawless habitat for a player like him to give [their] best".

Manchester United coach José Mourinho wants Paul Pogba to play at the same level for Manchester United that he did for France during the World Cup.

United have brought in three players for about £68m this summer, and the 55-year-old told ESPN he would like to sign "two more players".

But as questions are being asked why United aren't getting more out of him, Mourinho claims the closed-off nature of tournament football suited the Frenchman.

Mourinho, however, believes the World Cup environment helped Pogba to thrive.

"Of course, I am not happy".

The United boss said he was not fully satisfied on the US tour because he was without several members of his first-team squad, who are on a break following the World Cup.

As you can see from comments made in media availabilities, the window is simply just not going Mourinho's way right now. So against Leicester and Brighton the situation is not fantastic for us.

"When I look to Brighton on the second game, I don't think they have any player that is not doing a very good pre-season with lots of matches and training together. But for the first two matches we have to fight for the points, so that is what we are going to do with the players available".

Martial has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, especially after his agent spoke out that the French attacker wants to play his football elsewhere.
