Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos had a message for superstar Cristiano Ronaldo after his €105 million (R1.65 billion) move to Juventus was confirmed on Tuesday.

He wrote: "I believe that the time has come to begin a new stage in my life and that is why I have asked the club to accept my transfer request".

The winger was converted into an out-and-out striker, scoring an incredible 451 goals for Los Blancos in just 438 matches, smashing the club's previous scoring record of 323 held by Raul.

Ronaldo's Real Madrid exit has created a frontline vacancy for the Galacticos, with Harry Kane among the club's top three choices to replace him.

"Beyond the conquered titles, the trophies achieved and the triumphs achieved on the playing fields during these nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, work, responsibility, talent and improvement".
