England players took to social media to celebrate reaching the quarter-finals after beating Colombia after penalty shootout.

Dier was the man who scored the dramatic victor after England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had earlier stopped Carlos Bacca's strike. The celebrations, however, did not end in the field as Southgate and his boys took to social media to express their delight.

"We had a cruel blow on 90 minutes which we had to show incredible resilience to come back from", said a relieved Southgate, whose own penalty miss cost England in the semi-finals against Germany at Euro '96.

"It's going to be an interesting one because I think Gareth probably will be loyal to the players he thinks are his best side".

"They aren't very good at moving the ball quickly, not like teams from southern Europe", Sweden team scout Tom Prahl told Expressen.

Pickford was one of just two first-team regulars not rotated by Southgate against Belgium for England's final group game last week and was criticised for his technique in failing to stop Adnan Januzaj's effort that sealed top spot in Group G for the Red Devils.

"During my time with England we met them four times".

French Gangster Uses Helicopter To Escape In Dramatic Prison Break

It was just the second time in eight occasions England have won a shootout at a major tournament, and the first time ever in the World Cup.

"I am really proud of the way my team played", Southgate said.

Colombia's roughhouse tactics - typified by Wilmar Barrios thrusting his head into Henderson's chest and chin in the first half - ultimately proved futile and Henderson felt England kept their cool despite plenty of provocation.

They aren't the only famous faces thrilled about England's win, with Ross Kemp taking to Twitter to make an emotional reaction video.

A chant that's proved even more popular, so much so that it's arguably the unofficial anthem for fans of the Three Lions in Russian Federation, is England's Going All The Way.

"He deserves it, he got a bit of criticism last week, undeservedly so, and I am so happy for him. He made some fantastic saves in the game".

"I thought there were many, many fouls in the game and I don't think we conceded anywhere near the number of our opponents".
