While Philadelphia is a so-called sanctuary city, officials had maintained that they would honor Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers as long as they included a criminal arrest order signed by a judge.

Another protester faces a state charge of interfering with a peace office, while one other was released without charges.

Nielsen said that under "his exceptional leadership, the men and women of ICE have made significant progress in restoring the rule of law to our immigration system and countering criminals such as human smugglers and those attempting to exploit children".

Shortly after appearing on the show, the senator took to social media to elaborate she had come around to support the opinion ICE was now a "deportation force" and needed to be replaced with "something that actually works".

Some protesters' tents were dismantled, according to the station. Sgt. Chris Burley, public information officer with the PPB, said the bureau stopped providing traffic control at approximately 8:10 a.m.

DHS said in an email that the goal is to reopen 4310 SW Macadam Ave. facility.

In Portland, the ICE facility had been shut down for eight days because of the protesters. And two agents are monitoring what's happening outside the ICE headquarters.
