Amazon Prime Day sales event to debut in Singapore on July 16

Amazon has already put up a huge page on its website, giving everyone a glimpse of its Prime Day event.

The Amazon sale faces serious competition from Australian online shopping market leader eBay, however, which launched its subscription service, eBay Plus, and a site-wide sales event to compete with its new USA competitor. Here are all the details! Amazon called last year's event its biggest day ever, though the company does not release revenue figures.

Amazon has announced that Prime Day 2018 will be taking place on July 16 and will feature 36 hours packed with over a million deals you won't want to miss.

Not only does Prime Day itself last longer than a 24-hour period but, as the Twitch Prime package demonstrates, deals and offers go live well in advance of the July 16, 2018 event.

You do need to be a Prime member in order to take advantage of Prime Now delivery, this limited-time promotion, and other Prime Day deals. There's also a free 30-day trial available which you can cancel at any time. I expect voice shopping to play a bigger role this Prime Day, but given all the privacy concerns surrounding Amazon's digital assistant - not to mention that creepy laugh - I'm not too keen on adding another Echo device to my home unless I see an extraordinary price cut. Amazon didn't give specific numbers on deals, but last year it handicapped the number of sale items in the "hundreds of thousands", while this year it is more than a million. Every little bit helps, and if you were in the market for some new loot anyway - why not get more bang for your buck?
