Two inmates were being transported from the Wyandotte County Correctional and Court Services Building on 7th Street. "We always evaluate procedures, but we did confirm that they did follow proper procedure".

Charges have not yet been formally filed with the Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office.

"It is very possible that with their own firearm, they were both shot", Wyandotte County sheriff's Maj.

Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer was briefed on the shooting as he arrived at Children's Mercy Park for a congressional forum hosted by the Kansas City, Kansas, Chamber of Commerce, The Kansas City Star reported.
