Norwegian politicians have nominated Donald trump for the Nobel peace prize

Christian Tybring-Gjedde and Per-Willy Amundsen, members of the Norwegian Progress Party, are the lawmakers responsible for the nomination, according to Norway's state broadcaster, NPK.

A group of USA lawmakers nominated Trump for the prize earlier this year, before the summit had taken place (and before it was canceled, then reinstated).

Trump's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize will be for next year's award as the nomination process for the 2018 award ended in January.

Nominations must be sent to the Norwegian Nobel Committee before February 1.

The committee can not publicly reveal who has been nominated, so it is unclear if Mr Trump is in the running to scoop the prize in 2018.

The percentages, calculated in California out of searches for all three terms -"President Trump", "Kim Jong-un", and "Nobel Peace Prize" - 77%, 9% and 14%, respectively.

The Oslo-based panel has closed nominations for the 2018 prize, so Mr Trump's Singapore triumph could not bear fruit until the next victor is announced in October 2019. "Unlike Obama, [Trump] actually deserves the Nobel Peace Prize", Laura Ingraham, an influential presenter on Fox news, tweeted in April.
