Millie Bobby Brown deletes Twitter after becoming subject in homophobic memes

Millie Bobby Brown, 14, is most famous for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things.

"Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown has quit Twitter after some users shared memes attributing homophobic, anti-gay comments to her, according to several entertainment publications, including People.

Even if you chuckled at any of the above tweets you have to remember that Brown is a 14-year-old child.

Brown has not taken a political stand against the LGBT+ community ever, in fact, she is actually an advocate for the community. "The cyberbullying went one step further, with many people using the cruel hashtag "#TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown".

She has not commented publicly on this latest turn of events. Because of the despicable content of the memes, we will not be showing any of them in this post, though some on Twitter have said they originated as a "joke". In a since deleted tweet, one of the people responsible for spreading the memes had this to say: "People getting mad over the Millie Bobby Brown homophobic meme makes me giggle". With these fake images, she's being bullied, and her likeness is being used to cause pain to the LGBTQ community.

This is far from the first time that similarly hateful activity has forced a star to remove themselves from social media. However, the last tweet shared by the account was on December 12, 2017. Prior to deactivating her account, Brown was very active on social media. SNL cast member Leslie Jones deleted her Twitter account in 2016 as a result of racist memes. Long before Tran wiped her Instagram, Star Wars actor Daisy Ridley also bowed out of social media thanks to harassment from internet trolls.
