Tearful Dennis Rodman says he 'took bullets' for Kim friendship

Rodman added that North Korea has been "gracious" to him as well as the U.S.

According to Rodman, Kim said he'd be "willing to talk" to Obama under certain conditions.

"I think the fact that Trump would understand that the people of North Korea have a heart, they have soul, charisma, and they love each other. Why do I feel like I just ran a marathon backwards?" another fan said. Rodman said Obama "just brushed me off" and "didn't even give me the time of day".

He said:"I was very naive when I went over there". "I just feel like that it (the meeting) nearly didn't happen you know, but I'm glad it did". Kept going back. I showed my loyalty and my trustworthy [sic] to this country. He characterized Kim as "not a dumb man" and "more like a big kid".

Rodman confirmed in the interview with CNN the White House reached out to him when he arrived in Singapore to thank him for his role in reaching out to North Korea. He told reporters he wasn't sure if he would meet Kim in Singapore. He brought several gifts for Kim, including two signed basketball jerseys, two soap sets, and a copy of Trump's 1987 book "The Art of the Deal". In the interview with "GMA" co-anchor Michael Strahan, Rodman, who is often criticized for his cordial relationship with the North Korean leader, praised his improbable friend. Rodman twice appeared on Trump's television show, The Celebrity Apprentice.

Rodman has received criticism for his support of both Kim and Trump over the years, claiming he has even gotten death threats. "No hatred. No more hatred".

Riesen said his advice for Trump would be to "try to find the sense of humor" that Kim has.

"He wasn't, but I like Dennis. I never had no one to hear me", Rodman said, as a drop of tear rolls behind his thick sunglasses. No, no, no, you tell me, you tell me. Rodman is known for being one of the best rebounders in National Basketball Association history.

While Rodman was hopeful and grateful for the summit, he pointed out correctly that it's just the start of what will be a long process.
