Putin: Co-operation with China at unprecedented level

Trump accused the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, of being "dishonest and weak" for pointing out that America's excuse for imposing aluminum and steel tariffs on his country - that they pose a national security threat to the United States - makes no sense.

Trump also lashed out at longtime allies over their criticism of his trade policies.

Keep in mind that when it comes to US national security, no one objects to Trump's negotiating with Kim whose nuclear button is much smaller than America's. "Whether you like it or not, and it may not be politically correct, but we have a world to run", Trump said.

For the past week, it was an open question in Ottawa whether Trump would actually show up, after he imposed the heavy tariffs.

"Looking forward to straightening out unfair Trade Deals with the G-7 countries. And the population is of course much bigger - half of the planet", Putin said.

But the Prime Minister twice refused to say whether she had requested a formal bilateral meeting with Mr Trump.

Putin said on Sunday he thought it was important that the two men meet and said he shared Trump's concerns about the risks of an arms race developing between Russian Federation and the United States, something he said officials from the two countries needed to discuss.

"The nature of the debate we had was rather appeasement and it stopped the escalation in terms of behavior", Macron, who had exchanged terse Twitter messages with Trump in the run-up to the summit, told reporters.

The Russian government also appeared to snub Trump's idea.

"Our position has not changed", said Adam Austen, a spokesman for Foreign Affairs. In the late 1990s, Russian Federation was invited to join, but then in 2014 the members chose to expel Russian Federation in response to its annexation of Crimea.

"Russia should be in this meeting, " Trump said.

Putin also lambasted Trump's decision to withdraw from the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, saying the decision could "destabilize the situation" in the region. "It's in everyone's interests", Conte added, in an echo of Trump's own words after the combative United States president shocked both his allies and those back in his own country when he announced in Washington that, "Russia should be in (sic) this meeting", Trump told reporters in Washington as he left the White House.

G7: Trump leaves summit prematurely for meeting with Kim Jong
Kim is, essentially, upsetting two decades of carefully choreographed North Korean statecraft and stepping into the unknown. Trump has left for Singapore from Canada after attending the two-day Group of Seven (G7) meeting that ended Saturday.

But she stressed there are many areas where Canada is working closely and effectively together. Trump was due to arrive in Singapore on Sunday ahead of a historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"I think one of the results of this G7 leaders' meeting will be to talk about the situation on the Korean peninsula and let the USA president know, and let the world know, that he will be travelling to Singapore to the meeting with the North Korea with the strong support of his allies", Freeland said.

In the week leading up to the G7 (Group of Seven) meeting, many were starting to call it the G6 +1, since Trump was doing everything in his power to alienate the other 6.

President Trump is heading up to Canada for the G-7 summit on Friday.

"Pursuing the conversation. Engaging, keeping the dialogue alive, now & ever".

"We both believe that the current trade protectionism has increased, and there are many uncertainties in the recovery of the world economy".

On Saturday, Trump repeated his desire to have a sunset clause in an updated NAFTA deal, a demand Trudeau rejected again.

Trump injected levity into his photo-op with Trudeau before the start of their meeting.

Putin played up his bond with "good friend" Xi in an interview with China's state broadcaster CGTN this week.

"I think it would be an asset to have Russian Federation back in, I think it would be good for the world, I think it would be good for Russian Federation, I think it would be good for the United States, I think it would be good for all the countries of the current G7".

But then Trump turned conciliatory.

The difference is that when Moscow does it we call it aggression.
