"People have rejected Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals", she said after a rally in downtown Toronto. "After June 7, as premier, I will work with the federal government to resolve these trade issues to make Ontario open for business again", Ford said. I don't know who voters will choose but I am pretty sure that it won't be me. "I don't think we can actually say that", Wynne said. "And I'm okay with that", she said. Still, she encouraged voters to elect as many Liberal candidates as possible to prevent Doug Ford's Progressive Conservatives or Horwath's NDP from from forming majority governments.

In a remarkable twist, just five days before the provincial election on June 7, the leader of the governing Liberal Party has essentially conceded the election, saying in a press conference acknowledging that "I will not be the premier after June 7th".

"We say the same thing in every language", said Ford spokesperson Melissa Lantsman.

An NDP government in Ontario would introduce a series of new accountability measures surrounding party nominations and government procurement, Leader Andrea Horwath announced Friday.

"I know that there are people who are trying to decide how to vote on June 7 and they are anxious about a majority (Progressive Conservative) Doug Ford government", Wynne said.

Wynne, however, said she'd still be on the campaign trail advocating for candidates in local elections "through until that last vote is cast". It's about the people of this province.

U.S. singled out by G7 allies over steel and aluminum tariffs
The swift reaction from Canada and Mexico raises the possibility of a trade war between close allies. It would also signal no one is safe: Mexico and Canada are the top two buyers of U.S. exports.

The Council of Canadian Innovators has released a document outlining the positions of Ontario's four major political party leaders when it comes to scaling up tech companies.

Wynne said whichever way the vote goes, people should hope for a minority win to keep the government "from acting too extreme - one way or the other".

Up in Parry Sound-Muskoka, Liberal candidate Brenda Rhodes says she's received a lot of support from constituents, which fuels her commitment to fighting for a seat at the legislature. Her faith in the Liberals was shaken and her vote will go to the NDP, she said.

"Our steel and aluminum industries have just been slapped with steep tariffs by the U.S. Workers in these industries are under attack". That's because an NDP victory would make the NDP a more credible "progressive alternative" in future elections. The worry for the party is that the Liberals could lose official party status, with some polls suggesting the Liberals could win fewer than the required eight seats. The NDP, after all, have only formed government once, in 1990.

"The Liberal and NDP campaigns are set up on this idea that there's going to be the first part of the election - which is a primary between the two of them and the victor will then go and fight the Conservatives", Graefe said.
