Since then, Barr has tweeted many apologies, but she has also started to fight back.

She added that Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of parent company Disney, called her ahead of the network's announcement to apologize and let her know first that he doesn't tolerate comments such as Barr's.

Confirming the recently announced new season of the revived sitcom had been canned, ABC said in a strongly-worded statement.

The decision expected to cost millions of dollars and cost the cast of the show their jobs. Sara Gilbert, who plays daughter Darlene, on Twitter called Barr's comments "abhorrent". Many conservative commentators and the president himself attributed at least some of that success to the lead character's backing of Mr. Trump. She said of the Jarrett tweet, "It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting". Ms. Clinton herself corrected Ms. Barr online.

One graphic Barr shared after the midday cancellation depicts Jarrett's face next to an ape, while an image of President Donald Trump appears next to an orangutan.

Later she saw the error of her ways, tweeting: "I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans".

"Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj", read the tweet, which was reportedly a remark about Valerie Jarrett, a former top adviser to president Barack Obama and an African-American.

She asked fans in another post not to boycott ABC. "It's like taking off All in the Family or I Love Lucy or Andy Griffith at their zenith", he said. "Forgive me - my joke was in bad taste". "I'm anxious about all the people out there who don't have a circle of friends and followers coming to their defense".

Barr was quickly condemned.

Roseanne Barr has returned to Twitter and told people not to feel sorry for her while also highlighting supporters' tweets that attacked ABC and others.

Three weeks earlier, Roseanne was the toast of ABC's annual presentation of its programming plans to advertisers. It's time for us to stop playing around with soft words by saying, 'Oh, well they're saying insensitive things.' No, it's racist!

Viacom also said it's pulling Roseanne reruns from its cable networks Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT as of Wednesday, a representative confirmed to CNET. In late March, the network renewed the show for another season.

Before the show was canceled, several people affiliated with "Roseanne" said they were leaving in response to Miss Barr's tweet. We commend the network and... "Dungey for placing the values of diversity, inclusion and respect for humanity above ratings". Above all, I want to apologize to Valerie Jarrett, as well as to ABC and the cast and crew of the Roseanne show.
