Season Ends for FSU Men's Golf in Oklahoma

OU's Nos. 1 and 2 players, Brad Dalke and Grant Hirschman, both struggled in the final round and over the course of the regional.

The top five teams and the top individual finisher not on an advancing team will move on to the NCAA Men's Golf National Championship, which will be played at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla., on May 25-30.

The result of this regional decided which teams would advance to the NCAA Championship.

Baylor was led by sophomore Cooper Dossey and senior Matthew Perrine, who posted matching rounds of 1-under 71. Dossey finished in seventh in the 75-player field at 7-under 209, and now has shot par or better in nine of his 10 career postseason rounds.

Prior to Wednesday, KU's best finish at a NCAA Regional was a tie for third in 1996. Chris Petefish had a 74 and his score was not counted for today's round.

Deneen also climbed 20 places in the final round and tied for 26th with a 2-under 214 (75-71-68).

KU finished Tuesday's second round in third place with a two-day total of 563, 13-under par, one stroke behind co-leaders Alabama and Iowa State.

Junior Blaine Hale shot 73 (+1) for the Sooners on Wednesday to end up with a 54-hole score of seven-under 209, good for fourth place. Murlick's performance broke the Marquette record for a 54-hole performance at an NCAA regional. The regional is being played at Spanos Regional Course, a 7,239-yard, par-72 track in Stockton, Calif. Their fourth-place finish in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational was their "worst" of the season, and they were runners-up to their rivals Oklahoma in the Big 12 Conference Championship. The Aggies won the tournament by nine strokes over Clemson, who shot an 846 overall and finished 18 under for the tournament.

The 20th-ranked Rebels shot a three-round team total of 15-over 867 and finished third.

Dossey and Perrine tied for fifth in par-5 scoring at 6-under 4.50.

Three Chanticleers each carded an even-par 72 in the opening round and are tied for 33rd.

Individual performances of the day include Noah Norton, Andy Ogletree and, Tyler Strafaci each shot a two under 69, while Luke Schniderjans had a harder day posting a one over 73.

The Bison were playing in their first NCAA Division I Regional.

Baylor men's golf punched its ticket to the NCAA Championships Wednesday afternoon.
