Abuse, torture alleged in 10-kid Fairfield family

The investigation began March 31 after police found 12-year-old child, who went missing in Fairfield, California. They found the child asleep under a bush in a nearby residence and returned to the home, where they conducted a search due to concerns about the safety of the children, police said.

"I'm horrified at the statements given by these children", said Sharon Henry, the Solano County Chief Deputy District Attorney.

Children taken from a squalid California home had been tortured for "sadistic purposes", a prosecutor has alleged.

Police reached the same house and after entering found that 9 children ranging from age 4 months to 11 years were inside and living in extremely unsafe and unhygienic conditions.

According to authorities, the children were not only made to live in unfit conditions, they were also abused and physical and emotionally traumatized.

The 10 children were placed in protective custody by Solano County Child Welfare services before being put into the care of family relatives.

First arrested Rogers. Jonathan Allen, who is the father of most children was also arrested, charged with nine counts, including torture with brutality.

Turpin and his wife Louise have already pleaded not guilty to torture, child abuse and other charges in relation to their 13 children. She and 29-year-old Jonathan Allen, live in the city of Fairfield, just north of San Francisco.

The mother, 30-year Ina Rogers was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail for child neglect but later released.

'The conditions they saw in my home was me tearing up my house because my son was missing.

Rogers informed reporters she's shocked police had leveled essentially the most severe accusations in opposition to her husband, as he was not the disciplinarian of the household. Rogers said she works the graveyard shift as an EKG technician at a heart monitoring company and her husband is a tattoo artist.

"We're a Christian family and Jonathan has not been raised that way", she said. "Once that fear sets in, you don't know what to do so in that moment", she said.
