The opening ceremony is at a USA consular building in the Arnona neighborhood.

"What a moving day for the people of Israel and the State of Israel", Netanyahu said.

On Dec. 16, 2017, Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, in a move that triggered new violence in the region.

But the move upset the Arab world and Western allies.

The relocation of the embassy from Tel Aviv has infuriated the Palestinians, who seek east Jerusalem as a future capital.

"I call on all countries to join the U.S. and move your embassies to Jerusalem", Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the crowd.

"Even if the fence is breached, we will be able to protect Israeli civilians from attempts to massacre or kidnap or kill them", he said.

Jurgen Buhler, director of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem also believes more nations will make the move. But Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama consistently signed waivers.

Trump announced the decision in a speech at the White House on Wednesday, December 6. "Today, I am delivering". A great day for Jerusalem.

A majority of Gaza's 2 million people are descendants of refugees, and the protests have been billed as the "Great March of Return" to long-lost homes in what is now Israel. Most other countries do not recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Recent moves to encourage schools in east Jerusalem to teach the Israeli curriculum are seen by residents as part of an ongoing effort to subjugate Palestinian values and loyalties. He has a history of speaking against Muslims, once describing Islam as a "heresy from the pit of hell". Lebanon was one of the Arab countries to receive numerous Palestinian refugees. The global community does not recognize Israeli sovereignty over the whole of Jerusalem, believing its status should be resolved in negotiations. The PA government is based in the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

Israel regards all of the city, including the eastern sector it captured in the 1967 Middle East war and annexed, as its "eternal and indivisible capital" in a move that has not won global recognition.

US Fighters have Intercepted Two Russian Strategic Bombers near Alaska
Russia's state-run news agency TASS said the U.S. jets did not come within "100 metres" of the Russian aircraft. The officials requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss that portion of the intercept.

Which implies that at least West Jerusalem is going to be the capital of the Israeli state'.

Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem is not recognised internationally and, according to the 1993 Israel-Palestinian peace accords, the final status of Jerusalem is meant to be discussed in the latter stages of peace talks. The king of Jordan retains a role in ensuring the upkeep of the Muslim holy places.

"We stand in solidarity with all Palestinians", he said. He did not identify them.

"It's been the capital of our state for the past 70 years". Nine voted against, 35 abstained and 21 did not cast a vote.

Hardline education minister Naftali Bennett told Israel Radio that the regime would treat the Gaza fence as an "Iron Wall" and anyone who approached it as a "terrorist".

Meanwhile, Israeli drones dropped teargas bombs on Palestinian demonstrators arrayed along Gaza-Israel border, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

But it also marks the anniversary of what Palestinians call their "nakba", or catastrophe, a reference to the uprooting of hundreds of thousands who fled or were expelled during the 1948 war surrounding Israel's creation.

The Palestinian government denounced Monday's violence as a "terrible massacre" perpetrated "by the forces of the Israeli occupation", and called for an immediate global intervention to prevent further deaths.

In 2000, Israeli politician Ariel Sharon, then opposition leader, led a group of Israeli lawmakers onto the Temple Mount/al-Haram al-Sharif complex.

"We call upon Palestinian leadership to resist", said Mohammed Salahat, a protester. "The United States would support a two state solution if agreed to by both sides".

The Trump administration has almost completed a long-awaited Israeli-Palestinian peace plan but is undecided on how and when to roll it out, given Palestinians' outrage over the embassy move and their contention that Washington can no longer be an honest broker.
