Paris Hilton Says Life Was More Fun Before Social Media

PARIS HILTON says she "wanted to die" when her sex tape was leaked.

But in 2004, her life changed forever when a private video that was made between her and her boyfriend, Rick Salomon, was released on the internet.

According to USA Today, Paris was interviewed for a documentary called The American Meme in which she compared making half a million dollars for agreeing to be recorded having consensual sex to being raped.

"It felt like I'd lost part of my soul and been talked about in such cruel and mean ways", she recalls.

'I was like, "I just don't want to live", because I thought everything was taken away from me. I was like, 'I just don't want to live, ' because I thought everything was taken away from me. I didn't want to be known as that.

A movie starring Paris called, "The American Meme", will be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in NY, where she talks candidly about how the video affected her.

"She added: "'I love my fans just as much as they love me.I feel closer with them than I do most people that I know. Nobody really has a good time like they used to.

The director for The American Meme praised Hilton for her candour.

Hilton is now engaged to actor Chris Zylka and told the audience at the film's debut that she was excited for the next stage of her life with "the man of my dreams".
